Long Day!

Today, I was at the memorial all day and not a single tour. Winter is like that here we have been told. I did a lot of reading and a little research on history of the site. After I couldn't do that anymore I drew a picture of President Lorenzo Snow. I am almost complete with my Power Point of Christ and the Latter-Day Prophets. Here's one to show you what I mean. Oh for Pete's sake...you know that isn't Lorenzo Snow. It's Spencer W. Kimball...isn't it?

Wintery Day Today!

We are not too excited about the lack of tours this time of year and there isn't much to do here unless we can go to Lebanon shopping and that gets a little expensive and we don't need anything. Sad isn't it?!!! Hope the dinner looks like this picture.

The snow has been falling all day today though not too hard. Roni is plowing our driveway. He does the church and site also. It is a lot of work for him, but he always gets it done. We are going to a community fund raising dinner tonight and most of the missionaries will be there I think. Some of them live right around the corner from the school where we will be eating.

No Work Today!

Well even though it is not work, that is what we call it. The snow is too heavy and the roads aren't in very good condition. The site director called and told us not to come in because there wouldn't be anybody here today anyway. Check out the video.

I took these photos just in time. Yesterday I went to Lebanon to get the oil changed in the car and while on my way home I stopped to take a picture or two of the beautiful "candle wax" that flows out of the mountain sides here in a lot of places. This is the day before the big snow.

The Paths We Take!!

I have a few pictures of some of the ways we have to travel. These definitely require comments.

It's hard to see around the corners sometimes, but can you imagine the spring thaw?!

This is a road that would be nice if it wasn't muddy like it gets here sometimes. But of course this is a section that is a lot flatter than most.

The old buildings aren't here anymore, but the foundations and the old wall/fence still stands...at least in part.
What do you think?

January 1/3 gone!!!

Well, we have had snow 5 times that stayed...for a short time. We are almost without again. Locals say it is the strangest winter they can remember. It hovers around freezing and then warms to 36 or so and away goes the white stuff. We do a lot of studying as you can see. I know they are old photos, but there is nobody around to take the pictures now. We worked yesterday...Monday and won't go in again until Friday. We have a hard time finding things to do. I have to teach the lesson on Sunday in Priesthood mtg., so I have to get the studying in.

First Blog of 2012

I am learning how to ponder and as I was doing this I realized that I could learn stuff from doing this. I learned that some people have a pencil and paper in their hands when they pray and write down their impressions. I am going to do this from now on. The pictures in this blog are of the front hard of our apartment today. It has been snowing for a couple of hours now and it is beautiful. Watch the video to see what it looks like. I love it and I love to learn.
