RESTFULL DAY OFF...YEAH RIGHT!!

Well...the snow is all gone now and the temperature was at 81 or higher today. We decided to go to Quechee and Woodstock today. Woodstock is a fun little town that has some fantastic old homes in it. Quechee has the "gorge" and it is beautiful as you can see.

I'll put in the sign so you can read all the things about this place. Neat huh?!

This last picture is to show that the snow was here up until a few days ago...and it is only March. What's it going to be like? I don't know, but the temperature is supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. :)

CRITTERS...CRITTERS...CRITTERS!!!

We have been told by the locals here that it is not a good idea to have bird feeders out because the bears will come to try to get to them. We took them down after seeing this creature sitting there eating his lunch.

Then we saw these tracks and started to wonder what it may be. We don't know and have only conjecture to go on. We are maybe a little afraid to ask anyone!!

These signs of "whatever" made us stop and think about going for walks in the woods. Could it be...? Oh, I don't know. I thought at first it could be elephant, or maybe rhino, but then my "sane" mind told me it was likely the neighborhood dog! What say you? Having lived in Alberta for a great deal of my life, I have never seen tracks anything like these. Comments please.

MONUMENT AND MOON & CHAPEL!!!

Today the moon was full and the sky was clear...a rare occurrence here in Vermont! We had an awesome day even though we weren't on duty today. We had a casual ride down to Lebanon for groceries and dined out a Wendy's. After getting to the apartment, I went to the site and took a few pictures. It was very difficult to balance where I had to shoot from and so there were very few that showed what I wanted to show without them being blurry. Enjoy anyway...I did!!!

GOD...THE GREAT SCULPTOR - AREN'T THEY GORGEOUS?!

I came out of the visitor's center or the visitors center (both would be correct)and saw these beautiful creations of nature and wanted to capture them. I did so with my Motorola cellphone. It takes about 30 seconds to walk to the office door across the way. As I stepped to the door I heard a crash and worried that Sister Fisher had been hurt. She wasn't there and neither were the icicles. They had crashed to sidewalk just after I walked under them. I had just had an extraordinary tour with a young return missionary. He was from Quebec and had served a mission in Nova Scotia. We had a very spiritual and uplifting conversation. He lived in a town that was an hour from any other members of the church. He was very strong in his love for the Lord and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What a spiritual uplift he gave me...and hopefully he had a good experience also. Fantastic day today!!!

WINTER COMES AND GOES!!!

We have had a strange winter according to the locals. The snow comes and it is beautiful...but cold. Then it turns warm and we get the icicles. It will be clear at night when we go to bed and then in the morning we will see the wonderful masterpieces of the Lord on the trees, the car, the roads and everywhere. I hope to get some good pictures of the wildlife that we see often here...when I don't have the camera of course.
This assortment of pictures are some I have taken in the last few days. I wish I had a better camera so you could see the ice formations on the top of the car. They were absolutely gorgeous...but tiny. The icicles were on the eave of the visitors center. I knocked down some over the entry to the office because of the danger before thinking to take a picture of them.

We have had a very slow time of it lately, but when we have had a tour or two, they were usually great and we know that we were supposed to have them for what we could offer. If you don't understand that let me know and I'll explain.
We are loving our mission and studying on the slow days to the extent that we have learned more here in a few months than all the rest of our lives before it. It's fantastic and getting better.

I'M STILL HERE...WHERE ARE YOU?!!!

Well, we are still on our mission, but have not taken any new pictures for some time. I will try to get some more. Maybe one of our car off the side of the road. We couldn't make it to our house tonight after our shift and had to walk a ways to the apartment. Tomorrow I will have a picture or two of the road we have to negotiate. Happy Trails 'til then.

THEY CAN'T READ...CAN THEY!?

I had to go to Lebanon for medications yesterday and decided to capture a few interesting signs on my cell phone camera. I have seen these signs every time we go to Lebanon. I have also each time wondered why they would put up signs like these. What purpose do they serve? Do the sign makers actually think the moose and bears can actually read...and if they could do you think they would obey? I think it is preposterous to expect them to. What do you think? (maybe the meds were a little too powerful...?)
